The Story Behind Monicque

Hi, I'm Monique and this brand was born from years of feeling like I didn't quite fit in.

Growing up, I wasn't the girl with the trendy wardrobe or the latest styles. Money was tight, and shopping meant clearance racks and hand-me-downs. But I'll never forget the first time I found a dress that actually fit me well, not perfectly but close enough. The way it made me stand a little taller, speak a little louder. That feeling stuck with me.

For years, I chased that feeling through online shopping, only to be disappointed over and over. Wrong sizes, cheap fabrics, photos that lied. I'd open packages with excitement and end up frustrated, wondering why it was so hard to find clothes that were both beautiful and real. I felt like I was constantly searching for something that didn't exist.

So I decided to create it myself.

I started Monicque in 2019 with almost no experience in fashion, just a clear vision and a stubborn belief that women deserved better. I worked late nights learning about fabrics, perfecting fits, and building relationships with suppliers who shared my values. There were moments I wanted to quit when shipments were delayed, when designs didn't work, when I questioned if anyone would even care.

But then the first orders came in. And the messages started arriving: "Finally, something that fits!" "I felt so confident wearing this." "Thank you for being honest."

That's when I knew this was bigger than me. This was for every woman who'd ever felt overlooked, disappointed, or unsure. Every woman who deserved to feel powerful in what she wears.
